DSITE consists of the Institute members residing in Louisiana, Mississippi and affiliated persons. DSITE is a section within the ITE's 5th District, called SDITE, which covers most southern states. It is affiliated with the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), an international professional society of transportation engineers.

DSITE Membership Form

The DSITE membership includes a broad range of transportation personnel--engineers, planners, educators, administrators, and technicians. Many modes of transportation are represented in the organization's membership.

DSITE meets four times each year with meeting sites generally alternating between Louisiana and Mississippi.  First meeting of the year is generally in February, then the Summer meeting is held in June or July, followed by a meeting in October. The fourth meeting is a breakfast meeting held in conjunction with the Southern District ITE (SDITE) meeting which is usually held in April in one of the nine states making up the SDITE stretching from Virginia to Louisiana. The DSITE meetings generally include a day of Technical sessions, a breakfast Business meeting and a round of golf for those that wish to play. A social hour is sometimes held after the Technical sessions. At some meetings a Technical Tour is held or a technical seminar is held. Professional Development Hours (PDH) are issued for the meetings.

Highlight of the Summer meeting is a Banquet followed by Annual Awards being given out. This is subsequently followed by a Scholarship Auction which raises the bulk of the money used for providing scholarships to individuals at the various Student Chapters.

DSITE supports Student Chapters at Louisiana State University, University of Louisiana - Lafayette, Jackson State University, Mississippi State University and University of Mississippi. Student Chapter meetings are held throughout the school year and DSITE members participate in these meetings.
